Apple Co-Founder Steve Wozniak Made A Divisive Comment About Rich People

Steve “Woz” Wozniak’s success in the tech world paved a path for expansion in other industries. He’s no longer a part of Apple, which he co-founded with Steve Jobs. Instead, Steve is a high-profile tech authority who speaks at conferences, engages in philanthropy, and even competed on Dancing With the Stars. The man is incredibly wealthy and beloved, which is why some of his comments about his investment strategy surprised the world.

Talented Crafter

Steve is an American computer scientist, inventor, and programmer who grew up near Sunnyvale, California — better known as Silicon Valley. He spent his childhood interested in electronics and enjoyed building his own working gadgets. "Teachers started recognizing me and praising me for being smart in science," he said. "And that made me want to be even smarter in science!"

Poor Student

As a student, Woz never had much success in school, besides in math and science class. "In some parts of life, like mathematics and science, yeah, I was a genius," he said. "I would top all the top scores you could ever measure it by." After graduating high school, he enrolled in the University of Colorado at Boulder from 1968-69. He only lasted two semesters before getting expelled.

One School to the Next

That's because Woz hacked into the university’s computer system and sent fake messages to other students. This silly prank made Woz move back home to California and enroll at De Anza College in Cupertino. Finally, he transferred to the University of California, Berkeley, in 1971.

Meeting Steve Jobs

While he attended his new school, he was also designing calculators for Hewlett-Packard. Not long into this routine, Woz dropped out again. It turned out that he was on the right path because this is when he met his long-term business partner, Steve Jobs. But Wozniak had apprehensions about starting a company.
